"My goal from the beginning of the campaign was to be the first and not the last," Alderwoman Daniela Velázquez said.

She's paving the way for future leaders.

This is St. Louis Alderwoman Daniela Velázquez of the 6th Ward.

"I'm the first Latina ever elected to serve in the city of St. Louis," said Velázquez. "My goal from the beginning of the campaign was to be the first and not the last."

"It gives the younger generation, the kids, a hope that they can see themselves one day in these positions just like it gives me hope when I see Latinas leading in the boardroom and in Congress," she shared.

The alderwoman was born and raised in St. Louis County. She attended Marquette High School and was a proud student of the Rockwood School District from K-12.  Keep reading.
