St. Louis Celebrates Immigrants During National Welcoming Week

The St. Louis Mosaic Project joins Welcoming America to celebrate National Welcoming WeekSept. 12-20 by highlighting twenty events to recognize immigrant contributions to St. Louis. Events in St. Louis range from an International Soccer Tournament to Brazilian, Hispanic, Polish and Scottish Festivals.

“These celebrations are part of a powerful and growing movement in our country,” said David Lubell, Executive Director of Welcoming America. “Communities recognize that they are more vibrant and prosperous when everyone feels welcomed. Across the United States this week, new and long-time residents are building bridges and making their communities stronger, together.”

The Mosaic Project sees National Welcoming Week as an opportunity to show that St. Louis is a composed of people from many different cultures and communities that each add value and flair to the region. The list of events ranges from a Naturalization Ceremony at the International Institute, lectures, concerts, festivals and a even a street soccer tournament.
