Betsy Cohen talks about Jason Jan, St. Louis Business Journal Winner

Jason Jan could have settled anywhere in the world, but he chose St. Louis.

A native of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, he came to the U.S. as an international student at the University of Missouri - St. Louis, where he earned a degree in finance. He later earned an MBA from the University of California - Irvine.

He could have stayed in Southern California, where some family members live, but opted to return to launch his entrepreneurial career and raise a family.

"St. Louis is big but its small enough that it's a tight-knitted community that really supports small-business diversity, especially restaurants," Jan, 40, said. "St. Louis has a good platform to grow."
