Description

Latinx Communities in Missouri (LCIM) is a network of individuals and organizations working to ensure that the diverse history and contributions of Latinx communities in Missouri are represented in Missouri 2021 Bicentennial celebrations. In this collaborative event between the Cambio de Colores Conference and the Missouri Folk Arts Program, jazz artist Pablo Sanhueza will present a performance of the Kansas City Latin Jazz Orchestra, and then share his experiences in a conversation with historian Cynthia Ammerman and musicologist Marc Rice about the musical migrations, the Afro roots of Latin jazz, and the Latinx impact upon the Kansas City jazz scene.

This event will be in English.
