Gateway Region YMCA becomes 46th St. Louis Mosaic Project Ambassador Company

St. Louis, MO – September 15, 2021, - The St. Louis Mosaic Project is proud to announce the Gateway Region YMCA as its 46th ambassador company. This designation reflects its commitment to help make the St. Louis region more globally welcoming.  

          The YMCA is a non-profit organization with more than 10,000 branches throughout the United States, dedicated to strengthening local communities by empowering young people, improving the health and well-being of people from all backgrounds, and inspiring action within the community. The YMCA is dedicated to giving all people, regardless of race or ethnicity, the opportunity to reach their full potential with dignity. The St. Louis Mosaic Project supports the Gateway Region YMCA’s commitment to foster an environment of diversity and inclusion, and provide opportunities and support to everyone in the community, including immigrants and refugees.

The Gateway Region YMCA strives to make the region more globally welcoming by celebrating multicultural events and holidays, providing diversity and inclusion training for its employees, and having employee resource groups. As part of its role as a Mosaic Ambassador Company, the Gateway Region YMCA has committed to creating a welcoming website for foreign born applicants. To spread awareness about the St. Louis Mosaic Project, they will distribute Mosaic flyers and share information about Mosaic events to employees with its employees and in the broader community. The St. Louis Mosaic Project is excited to provide the Gateway Region YMCA with resources so it can continue to embrace diversity within the international community of St. Louis.

 

About the St. Louis Mosaic Project:

The St. Louis Mosaic Project began in 2013 under the St. Louis Economic Development Partnership and the World Trade Center-St. Louis. Its goals are to make St. Louis the fastest growing US major metropolitan area for immigration by 2025 and to increase the foreign-born regional population by 25,000. Mosaic is a public/private partnership supported by a 32-member steering committee comprised of a diverse mix of regional business, civic, economic development, faith, agency, and academic leaders.
