Betsy Cohen, Executive Director of the St. Louis Mosaic Project, has been selected as a St. Louis Council of Construction Consumers 2020 Best Practices and Diversity Awards finalist.

“Being selected as a finalist means that others see the work that I lead with the team at the St. Louis Mosaic Project of the St. Louis Economic Development Partnership as valuable, that the way we welcome foreign-born and connect them to jobs in fields such as construction matters,” Cohen said. “My biggest accomplishment as a diversity inclusion leader is how our region has embraced, welcomed and grown our foreign-born community. When St. Louis Mosaic Project started and I was hired as the founding Executive Director in 2013, seeing and understanding the value of foreign-born people was not clear. Now, many community members see that while we certainly need to welcome, train and advance our homegrown talent, especially those who are black and have not had opportunities available, our community has skills and needs that are benefited when we also attract and utilize the skills and cultures of our foreign-born communities.”
