Risk pays off as Indian immigrant builds a drug manufacturer in St. Louis
Karthik Raghavan reached what he described as a “real crossroads.”
In 2003, he had to choose whether to become a partner at Deloitte or start his own business. If he had become a partner, Raghavan said he likely would have retired with Deloitte, the giant audit, consulting, tax and advisory services corporation.
“I felt that was the right time to branch out and take the risk. I had always wanted to start something in the pharmaceutical field with a foundation in chemistry, biology and manufacturing," said Raghavan, who was born in India.
The result is Sentio BioSciences, a pharmaceutical manufacturing company in Maryland Heights that has grown to 36 employees since it began operations in 2009. Read more here.
