St. Louis Cold Drawn Recognized as Gold Level Mosaic Ambassador Company
The St. Louis Mosaic Project is pleased to announce St. Louis Cold Drawn as the 36th Mosaic Ambassador Company. Mosaic Ambassador Companies take action to promote diversity and inclusion in the work place. Mosaic Ambassador Companies at the Gold Level also agree to sponsor at least one employee toward an H1-B visa or similar visa sponsorship.
St. Louis Cold Drawn produces and supplies cold drawn steel bars and mainly serves the U.S. and Mexico automotive and industrial markets. It is a division of Nucor Corporation, the largest steel producer in North America. Cold Drawn employs many immigrants whose background and skills bring value to the company. This company, in turn, places high value on these employees and prioritizes their needs. To accommodate employees learning English as a second or foreign language, the company has an ESL teacher onsite. Cold Drawn holds an event every year that brings together all employees and their families to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Finally, Cold Drawn sponsors visas and is open to providing job shadowing experiences for immigrants exploring job roles and careers.
Cold Drawn shares the vision and the aspiration of the St. Louis Mosaic Project: to attract and support talents from various cultures and educational backgrounds in order to embrace diversity in business and life. In addition to its current efforts, Cold Drawn will further strive to make immigrants welcome by strengthening its commitment to immigrants in the region and by continuing to support the goals of the St. Louis Mosaic Project.
About the St. Louis Mosaic Project
The St. Louis Mosaic Project was launched in 2012 in response to an economic impact report, outlining St. Louis to be lagging in immigrant growth as well as highlighting the economic benefits of increasing its foreign-born population. The Mosaic Project is a regional initiative that is professionally managed by St. Louis Economic Development Partnership, World Trade Center St. Louis and a 32-member committee. Its goal is to transform St. Louis into the fastest growing major metropolitan area for immigration by 2025, to add 25,000 more foreign born to the region from 2016-2025 and to promote regional prosperity through immigration and innovation.
