Below are diverse contributions highlighting the Indian community's profound impact on humanitarian causes, cultural preservation, and culinary experiences in the Greater St. Louis area. The Indian community are proud to be a part of this vibrant community and continue to contribute to its growth and enrichment.

Festival of Color
  • Healthcare Professionals: More than 400 dedicated healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and technicians, serve our community across hospitals, clinics, laboratories, elder care facilities, and other healthcare establishments. They diligently fulfill the healthcare needs of our community and often volunteer their expertise at free health clinics and disaster recovery centers during times of crisis.

  • COVID-19 Response: In response to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, hundreds of volunteers from the Indian community sprang into action by producing and distributing facial masks free of charge. Their proactive efforts helped in safeguarding the health and well-being of numerous individuals.

  • Music and Dance Education: Several accomplished music and dance teachers, numbering at least half a dozen, provide tutelage to hundreds of students in various Indian music styles such as Hindustani, Carnatic, Bhangra, Dandiya, Bhajans, and film music. Their dedication and expertise in promoting Indian music and dance forms contribute to the cultural richness of our community.

  • Volunteering and Interfaith Collaboration: Over 350 volunteers generously offer their services at four Hindu temples and actively participate in various Interfaith forums in St. Louis and St. Charles. Their collective efforts focus on promoting religious harmony and celebrating a diverse range of festivals from different faith traditions, including Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Islam, Baha’i, and others.

  • Culinary Diversity: The Indian community has significantly contributed to the culinary diversity of our area. In the past 25 years, the number of Indian restaurants has grown from four to over twenty, offering a wide range of flavors and cuisines. Additionally, numerous small-scale and individual caterers cater to both individual and corporate events, further enriching our culinary landscape.

  • Yoga Practice and Instruction: Local Indian community groups regularly gather to practice and teach yoga, benefiting the psychological, emotional, and physical well-being of thousands of individuals within our community.
