Like most immigrant and migrant communities in cities across the United States, the St. Louis region confronts a critical moment that raises important questions about law enforcement, humanity, community, and contestation. UMSL’s Public Policy Administration Program, Community Innovation and Action Center (CIAC), and Creating Whole Communities invites a panel of local activists and immigrant allies to share their experiences and insights in response to the U.S.’s zero-tolerance immigration policy agenda and its impact on Missouri and St. Louis communities. The invited panelists are:

  • Nicole Cortés, Attorney, Co-Founder, the MICA Project (mica-project.org)
  • Paul Costigan, Missouri State Refugee Coordinator, International Institute of St. Louis (iistl.org)
  • Geoff Soyiantet, President/CEO, Vitendo4AFrica (vitendo4africa.org)

After the event, there will be a reception with hors d'oeuvres, courtesy of Creating Whole Communities, and beer from Earthbound Brewery.

This event is open to the public and free, courtesy of UMSL’s Public Policy Administration Program, CIAC, and Creating Whole Communities (a partnership of UMSL and MU Extension).
