LCIM (Latinx Communities in Missouri) is a network of individuals and organizations working to ensure that the diverse history and contributions of Latinx communities in Missouri are represented in Missouri 2021 Bicentennial celebrations. Six events from June - November 2021 will highlight this important heritage in Missouri.

There is a rich oral tradition within the many diverse cultures of the Spanish and Portuguese-speaking world. Folktales, storytelling, myths, legends, and puppetry all embody distinctive cultural traits and flavors. This family-friendly and fun event will feature Monica Leo from the Eulenspiegel Puppet Theatre speaking about the process to create their show “Tio Conejo”, an international collaboration based on folktales from Mexico and Puerto Rico, and Prof. María Balogh from UMSL speaking about magical realism and poetry traditions.
