St. Louis attracted attention in March when an article in Bloomberg Businessweek spotlighted the region’s open-door policy when it comes to immigration. St. Louis has long been a magnet for international talent with 146 countries represented by the over 27,000 students graduating annually from St. Louis’ 30 four-year colleges and universities. These students represent a highly educated workforce, many of whom wish to remain in St. Louis and seek opportunities in the biosciences.
